What the spot is
It is the international reference price of a metal at a given moment, per troy ounce. An investment piece is worth at least the fine metal it contains at that price.
How it is shown
Each price comes with its change for the day, in green if it rises and in red if it falls, and with a note of when it was last updated. The change is calculated against the previous session's close of the New York market.
When the market is closed
If the market is closed, the last price stays on screen with its own notice until it reopens.
From the spot to the price of a piece
The price of a piece adds the seller's premium to the metal, which depends on the format, the mintage and the demand. Prices on the site are shown before taxes, which are calculated at the end, in the cart.
Unit and currency
You can see the price in troy ounces or in grams, and in the currencies the site offers.
