What an issuing country is
The issuing country is the authority that puts the coin into circulation or releases it as a collector piece. It is the name that appears on the coin, next to the face value and the year.
Issuer and mint do not always match
A mint in one country can strike coins for another. The Perth Mint, for example, strikes coins for several territories. On the entry, the issuing country and the mint are shown separately so there is no confusion.
How to use this view
Pick a country and you will see its series. Within each series, the entry takes you to the variants, the catalog numbers and the pieces for sale. If you would rather search by manufacturer than by country, use By Mint. If you search by motif, use By Theme.
If a country or a series is missing
Any registered user can suggest a new series from Contribute With Us. If it is accepted, it becomes available to everyone.
