Coins by Metal

Filter the catalog by the coin's metal. Gold, silver, copper, platinum, palladium, bimetallic and other metals, with the fineness and weight of each piece so you always know how much fine metal it contains before looking at its collector value.

Metal, fineness and weight

Each entry states the metal, its fineness or purity, expressed in thousandths, and the weight. From these comes the fine weight, which is the pure metal the piece contains.

The metals in the catalog

Gold, silver and copper are the most common. Platinum and palladium appear mostly in bullion. Bimetallic pieces combine two metals in the same piece, and Others groups rhodium and alloys.

Metal value and collector value

The metal sets the minimum value of a piece at the day's spot price. What is paid above that depends on the mintage, the design, the condition and the demand. The metal value calculator gives you the first part.

Each metal in detail

If you are looking for the market view of each metal, the Invest section has the guides to gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper. This information is not an investment recommendation.
